Inverness: Single drake Green-winged Teal at Loch Flemington at 1pm.

Easter Ross: Redhead Smew still on Loch Eye off the pier.

Wester Ross: 2 male Wheatears at Mellon Udrigle this lunchtime in field opposite Campsite, also 75 Redwing and a few Fieldfare.

​Lochaber: House Martin at Arisaig.

Badenoch and Strathspey: Scottish Crossbill (Pete Gordon - Birdtrack) north of Ryvoan bothy. Ring Ouzel on Cairngorm.

Mammal news: A Raccoon!, was recorded on a camera trap in mid-Ross see tweet here.

Skye: Two Manx Shearwaters in the Minch in highland recording area between Uig and Lochmaddy today.

Easter Ross: Adult Iceland Gull at Muir of Ord, at the Free Church at Urray.

Lochaber: First-winter Iceland Gull at Laig Bay, Eigg.

Easter Ross: Northern Eider at the mouth of Loch Fleet again today. Adult and three first-winter Little Gulls at Dornoch on the beach.

Wester Ross: First-winter Iceland and Glaucous Gull at Ullapool river mouth. First-winter Iceland Gull at Loch Kishorn.

Easter Ross: 3 Sandwich Terns and an Osprey at Loch Fleet today.

Inverness-shire: Peregrine hunting over Raigmore hospital.

Inverness-shire: Rough-legged Buzzard (John Poyner - Twitter) mobbing a Golden Eagle at Coignafearn today.

Badenoch and Strathspey: Rough-legged Buzzard (Birdguides) at Lochindorb at south end. Three Waxwings in Dulnain Bridge from 0900am.

Easter Ross: Ring-billed Gull again at Dingwall academy this afternoon at 2pm. Smew still in southwest corner of Loch Eye.

Badenoch and Strathspey: 3 Waxwings in Curr Wood at 11am.

Wester Ross: First-winter Glaucous Gull still in harbour at Ullapool, has been there for three months now!.​

Sutherland: Northern Eider (Peter Stronach - SOC email) drake with Eider flock viewable from NC423563. Also first-winter Iceland and Glaucous Gull and 41 Slavonian Grebes.

Easter Ross: Ring-billed Gull again at Dingwall academy this afternoon at 3pm.

Wester Ross: Late news of Hoopoe present at Strathain at NH114967, north of Ullapool yesterday, see photo below under 19th March. First-winter Glaucous Gull still present on river mouth in Ullapool this morning. 2 first winter Iceland Gulls between mouth of Loch Kishorn and Plockton.

Inverness-shire: 2 Green-winged Teal at Loch Flemington still (Clair Bale - Birdtrack).

Skye: First winter Glaucous Gull at Loch Ainort.

Wester Ross: In Little Loch Broom; 18 Great Northern Divers, 1 Red-throated Diver and 2 Slavonian Grebes. In Gruinard Bay; 58 Great Northern Divers, 4 Black-throated Divers, 3 Red-throated Divers, 12 Slavonian Grebes and a single Little Grebe. In Loch Ewe; 33 Great Northern Divers, 9 Black-throated Divers and 3 Slavonian Grebes.

Skye: White-billed Diver back in Uig bay this afternoon. Late news of the same or a different White-billed Diver (per B'guides) off the Ascrib Islands yesterday, seen from the Uig-Lochmaddy ferry.

​Inverness-shire: Green Winged Teal x 2 drakes still at Loch Flemington at 9.30am, viewed from road lay-by at north end. Single Mealy Redpoll with a flock of Lesser Redpoll in turnip field in the southwest corner at NH808517. Unconfirmed report of Rough-legged Buzzard (per Birdguides) from southwest of Inverness at Balmore of Leys NH668406. 2 Tundra Bean Geese (James Gordon - Birdtrack) the bay at Castle Stuart NH7349.

Wester Ross: 52 Great Northern Diver's within the wider Gruinard bay area today between Mungasdale and Mellon Udrigle, with a further 20+ birds too distant to positively ID. No sign of reported White-billed Diver, also present in area 5 Black-throated Diver's and 5 Slavonian grebes. 17 Great Northern Diver's in Loch Ewe and a further 3 Slavonian Grebes. Black-throated Divers reported back on a breeding loch.

Skye: First two Wheatears reported in Highland, at Neist Point today.

Easter Ross: 1 Northern Eider (Dean MacAskill - Birdtrack) at Coul Links at NH8195. 4 Scottish Crossbills in Strath Rusdale at NH5973 (Clair Bale - Birdtrack). 4 Snow Buntings on the beach south of the burn at Dornoch.

Lochaber: 15 Whooper Swans flying northwest past Rum this morning.

Badenoch and Strathspey: Black-throated Divers reported back on a breeding loch.

Inverness-shire: Green Winged Teal (per Birdguides) - drake at Loch Flemington at 1346pm. A second individual found by Jonathan Clarke at ca 5pm. Both currently on the Moray side of the loch!. Also there, 3 Mealy Redpoll with a flock of 50 Lesser Redpoll in the southwest corner.

Wester Ross: Juvenile Iceland Gull still at Ardmair early afternoon. First winter Glaucous Gull still at river mouth mid-afternoon, with a second individual, probably a first winter type.

Easter Ross: 4 Scottish Crossbills in Strath Rusdale at NH5873 (Clair Bale - Birdtrack).

Lochaber: Late news of the Black Duck (Andrew Dacre - Birdtrack) again at Strontian on Loch Sunart on the 5th March.

Inverness-shire: 2 Mealy Redpolls at Loch Flemington with flock of 150 Lesser Redpolls in southwest corner. juvenile Iceland Gull by waterworks at Alturlie.

Easter Ross: American Wigeon drake still at Udale Bay this morning, view from Newhall Point road (NH719668). Ring-billed Gull still at in Dingwall at this afternoon.

Skye: No sign of White-billed Diver today, but images taken yesterday show adult in very heavy moult so likely to stay in area until moult has completed.

Lochaber: Single juvenile Glaucous Gull at Kilmory on Rhum.

Wester Ross: White-billed Diver in Gruinard Bay from Mellon Udrigle (per Birdguides). Juvenile Glaucous Gull still in the harbour at Ullapool.

9th March

Skye: White-billed Diver moulting adult still in Uig bay coming very close in during the morning, see photos below, then near pier at ferry terminal later in day. Firecrest again at Portree industrial estate.

Easter Ross: American Wigeon drake still at Udale Bay at 1430pm, on tideline near Newhall Point (NH719668). Ring-billed Gull still at the academy/library in Dingwall at 1415pm.

Badenoch and Strathspey: 9 Kittiwakes at Loch Garten at 1030am.

Lochaber: Late news of a White-billed Diver (Ewan Miles) on 5th March at Point of Ardnamurchan and an adult Iceland Gull.

Sutherland
: 8 Iceland Gulls and 7 Glaucous Gulls at Loch Eriboll. 5 Glaucous Gulls and 5 Iceland Gulls at Loch Havurn at south end of Loch Eriboll and 2 Glaucous and 3 Iceland at Port Chamuill (all per Birdguides).

5th March

Inverness-shire: 3 European White-fronted Geese (Pete Gordon - SOC email) at Ardersier at NH795534, previously at NH796524 with Pink-feet and 2 Barnacle Geese.

Wester Ross: Juvenile Glaucous Gull in Ullapool, still at river mouth early afternoon.

Easter Ross: Five Little Gulls from the beach carpark. Smew still at west end of Loch Eye today.

Sutherland: Glaucous Gull at Point of Stoer feeding on a dead sheep at Cluas Deas this morning. Iceland Gull in the bay at Culkein today. Iceland gull in the bay north of Foindle today. Also 2 Juvenile Iceland gulls by the fish farm on the south side of Loch a Chairn Bhain today.

Lochaber: White-billed Diver (Ewan Miles) at Point of Ardnamurchan and an adult Iceland Gull. Black Duck at Strontian on Loch Sunart (Andrew Dacre - Birdtrack)
