Easter Ross: Yellow-browed Warbler (Keith and Rosie Barnes) in Craigdarroch Drive, Contin at 11am for 30 minutes not seen after. Brambling at Kinellan, Strathpeffer. 9 Pomarine Skua southeast past Tarbat Ness. Inverness-shire: 37 Pale-bellied Brents at Milton of Culloden. At Whiteness today - 11 Grey Plover, 50 Sanderling, 120 Dunlin, 50 Bar-tailed Godwit, 1 Ringed Plover and 6 Knot. Also 5000 Pink-footed goose arriving in six skeins from the northeast. Pochard at Whiteness head. Skye and Lochash: 20 Waxwings flew south over Drumfearn today. Lochaber: 7 Pale-bellied Brents at Kilmory on Rum. Badenoch and Strathspey: 8 Waxwings at Causer, Nethybridge this morning. 29th October
Badenoch and Strathspey: 7 Waxwing at Dirdhu Court/Causer. Wester Ross: Hoopoe (Birdtrack) reported at Durnamuck on Little Loch Broom side. 17 Pale-bellied Brents at the river mouth in Ullapool. Skye and Lochalsh: 8 Waxwing at Broadford and 19 Greenland White-fronted Goose flew southwest this morning. 28th October
Easter Ross: Juvenile Eurasian White-fronted Goose (Mark Warren) and adult Greenland White-front with Pink-Footed geese at Udale Bay. Adult white morph Snow Goose (Mark Warren) at Redcastle on the Beauty Firth at 1615-1700pm, then flew back in the direction of Tore. Also 60 Barnacle Geese at Redcastle. Badenoch and Strathspey: 11 Waxwings by path at top of Grampian Drive at 0916am. Skye and Lochalsh: Adult Mediterranean Gull (NB) briefly at the mouth of Broadford Bay mid-afternoon. 12 Pale-bellied Brent in Broadford Bay include a colour ringed adult, a new group from yesterday. The colour-ringed bird was rung at Devlin river near Dublin in Ireland on the 16th of February 2008 and breeds in Arctic Canada. Also separate group of 13 at Loch Sligachan. 20 Whooper Swan in Broadford Bay this morning; 17 over Kyleakin Obbe at midday; 5 landed on sea at Pabay late afternoon; 12 at Loch Portree and also 12 on the sea at Loch nan Ceall, Arisaig. Lastly 45-50 Whoopers flying over the sea at Mallaig at dusk. Huge flocks of thousands of mixed thrushes, predominantly Fieldfare passing through Kyleakin; 1000+ at Sassaig, Sleat. 27th October

Easter Ross: Snow Goose (David and Mary Galloway) on Munlochy to Tore road today at 1730pm, approx NH663542. Sutherland: Tundra Bean Goose (Birdguides) with Pink-footed Geese, also 18 Waxwings. Lesser Whitethroat at Balnakeil Craft Village. 70 Waxwing reported at Drumbeg. Skye and Lochalsh: 10 Waxwings at Lower Milovaig. Badenoch and Strathspey: Hawfinch this morning in flight during thrush passage over Dorback at 0815am. Single Waxwing in flight over Inverlaidnan Hill, Slochd at 1330pm. Inverness-shire: Juvenile Purple Heron (Marcus Conway) flew east past Ardersier, 500m offshore and continued flying beyond Fort George. Siberian Chiffchaff (Tom Wells) with three Chiffchaffs at the Longman. Easter Ross: Wholly unconfirmed report of Willow Tit (D.Booth - Birdtrack) reported from Coulmore, Craigrory, North Kessock. Easter Ross: Pallas's Warbler (Bob Swann/ Bob McMillan) in the plantation at Brucefield Farm, Tarbat Ness. Seen at midday and then again at approx 6pm. At the south end in the elders, also in the plantation Lesser Whitethroat, Redstart and numerous Blackcaps. No sign of the Red-flanked Bluetail all day. 60 Whooper Swans at Fearn. Sutherland: Adult Mediterranean Gull (Birdguides) at Brora at the river mouth at 1523pm. Yellow-browed Warbler (Birdguides) at Oldshoremore, in garden on left of main road by Oldshoremore turn off. FIRST FOR HIGHLAND!!!! Easter Ross: First-winter Red-flanked Bluetail (Bob Swann) at the plantation at Tarbat Ness. Also in the area 8 Blackcap, 3 Chiffchaff, a Redstart and a Lesser Whitethroat. A Pomarine Skua was recorded flying past this morning.(For those birders visiting Tarbat Ness for their first time, please park at the lighthouse carpark here, walk back along the road and enter the field here to get to the plantation. Please close all gates behind you) Sutherland: Yellow-browed Warbler (Andy Williams/Peter Stronach) at Durness Kirk, Yellow-browed Warbler (Andy Williams/Peter Stronach) and a Siberian Chiffchaff at Balnakeil Craft Village and Siberian Chiffchaff in Durness Village by the school. Also 23 Common Crossbill in the area and a large influx of tits, 3 Great Tit, 3 Coal Tit, 7 Blue Tit, as well as 2 Treecreepers and a Dipper. Skye: Two Yellow-browed Warblers still behind Bank of Scotland, Broadford and a single Yellow-browed Warbler (Phil Knott) with a tit flock in Drumfearn. A Great Grey Shrike at Glen Conon 15th October
Easter Ross: Great Grey Shrike at the pool at Tarbat Ness this morning, in the willows, then later in the afternoon in the gorse to the east of the pool. Also a Yellow-browed Warbler present in Brucefield Plantation and 5 Brambling and a Jack Snipe present. Also a locustella sp. was flushed from grass between the plantation and pool but not relocated. At Chanonry Point from 1030-1115am, 65 bonxies, one adult Pomarine Skua, 3 Manx Shearwaters, 800+ Gannets, 140 Long-tailed Duck and 1 Black Guillemot. Also a Little Auk seen from Chanonry Point at 10am. 9 Pale-bellied Brent Geese at Nigg Bay at 1300am. Sutherland: 40 Great Skua off Embo (1045am) and 1 Pomarine Skua. Single female Long-tailed Duck at Clashnessie Bay. Lochaber: Ring Ouzel still at Kilmory Glen, Rum. Long-tailed Duck at Inverscaddle Bay. 14th October

Sutherland: In half an hour seawatch this evening at Embo, a group of 10 Pomarine Skua north past Embo (4 with spoons), also 5 Bonxie, 4 Sooty Shearwaters, 5 Manx Shearwater and >350 Eider , 21 Long-tailed duck out from the pier. Sutherland: Single Yellow-browed Warbler (Peter Stronach/Ian McDonald) at Durness Kirk, also flyover Richard's Pipit (Peter Stronach) and a ticking bunting in the Manse garden, heard but not seen despite prolonged search. Barred Warbler (Peter Stronach) in Durness, in Sycamores in garden opposite Wild Orchid Guesthouse. Also present in Durness area Blue Tit, Coal Tit and Treecreeper. Purple Sandpiper at Embo. Three Ring Ouzels at Mullach Coire nan Dearcag. Easter Ross: Juvenile Tundra Bean Goose (Mark Finn) outside the hide at Udale Bay this evening at 1730pm. 6 Yellow-browed Warblers (Peter Stronach) at Tarbat Ness, single at Wilkhaven Farm, single at Brucefield Farm and four in plantation to the northeast of Brucefield Farm with 2 Blackcaps and 3 Brambling. Blackcap present in the pools area, also 300 Knot roosting on rocks below pools. Birdguides this evening reporting a single Yellow-browed Warbler (Birdguides) at Tarbat Ness, from the plantation. Turtle Dove beside the road at Colbost, north of the Three Chimneys restaurant. 10 Redwing in Glen Varrigill. Easter Ross: Three Yellow-browed Warblers (Bob Swann) this morning at Tarbat Ness. One in plantation near lighthouse, one in sycamores at Wilkhaven, one in plantation at Brucefield. Also 2 Redwing and on the pool, a Moorhen. Inverness-shire: Single Yellow-browed Warbler (John Poyner) in Grantown along river at NJ037267 opposite Clachnastrone House. Sutherland: Northern Treecreeper (Birdguides) reported commuting between gardens in Sheigra in the morning and afternoon. Easter Ross: Two Yellow-browed Warblers (Dean MacAskill) in the plantation, early afternoon at Tarbat Ness, also a Garden Warbler.
